[The feed clicks on again and one can immediately hear the sounds of rustling fabric. There's occasional mumbling from Sakura and Neji, but otherwise there's nothing of importance.

That is, when Sasuke himself starts to stir, mumbling quietly to himself. After a couple of minutes his breathing starts to labor, his mumbling growing loud enough for his PCD to pick it up.]

[Alphonse stays silent and watchful, never even flinching at her tone, understanding that she needs to blow off steam in some way. He knows what it's like to feel powerless to help someone you love dearly, to watch them hurting and not be able to do anything.]

Anger and resentment's been his entire life. He refuses to allow himself to be a victim, or to admit weakness. Sasuke is following a path of giving over his every bit of humanity and pain to become a tool, used for the express purpose of killing Itachi.

His self-worth is nonexistant. Itachi was the only person who made him feel as though he were worth anything at all. His betrayal cost Sasuke everything, took away all the love and security in his life, and Itachi enforced that by telling him he wasn't even worth the time to kill.

Sasuke truly feels in his heart of hearts that he's not worthy of being loved. That he did something wrong. That he is not good enough. That he is not strong enough. When really... it's just the opposite.

Until he gets that acknowledgement from his most important person, Itachi, whether it's love and a return of the bond he had with his brother, or looking Itachi in the eyes as he dies, he will not believe it.

Until that day comes, he doesn't care what damage is done to himself. He sees it as neccessary and inconsequential.

... and if he feels pain over it...? Well, that's a weakness.

And that's all the more reason to hate himself more, and push harder.
