八十八; 「accidental video」

[When the feed starts, Sasuke's bandaged back can be seen as he's rummaging through his closet for something. More like a specific shirt. Mouko wanders in while he's doing this, letting out a soft 'mew' before scurrying under Sasuke's outstretched arms and into the closet.]

Oi! Mouko, get out of there! I have to wash those!

[He lets out an exasperated sigh as he sits back on his heels, just staring at the mess he made.]

Where the hell is that--

[He stops when he spots something out of the corner of his eye and leans back into the closet to pull it out. An orange hoodie.]

... Where the hell are you, dumbass...

I don't mind. I came over to help; I can do that much.

[He raised a brow at the offered apology, but he didn't bother telling Sasuke yet again that he had nothing to apologize for. Instead he watched him stand up and nodded, following him into the kitchen area.]

[A hastily indrawn breath, and then Hitsugaya released it in a heavy sigh.]

No, I can't.

[Okay. Now was the time to say something insightful, meaningful, and comforting. That wasn't the sort of laugh that was supposed to come out of Sasuke's mouth. Part of him wanted to follow Uzumaki wherever he'd gone, freeze him into a popcicle, and then drag him back. The other part just wanted to follow Uzumaki, freeze him, and leave him there.

But, dammit, what did he know about it? Matsumoto seemed to be as fixed in place as Hitsugaya himself, and Hinamori had only been present once for a short while.

Deep breath.

The entire time he was here, he wanted nothing more than to leave and set things right. Now he can give his own version of you the same chance you've had here.

No one can keep those promises, Uchiha.

[Oh, darn it all. That was probably the wrong thing to say, but he doesn't want to be trapped into making one of those promises ... and breaking it too.]

Tch.

[He didn't know what to say, didn't know what Uchiha wanted to hear and didn't even know if he could deliver even if he had known. So he went right back to Uzumaki.]

You might be underestimating just how irrationally determined and stubborn your friend really is.

...Maybe so.

[This time he didn't follow Uchiha, keeping his distance. One more thing to say that might be the complete opposite of what he should have said. But he felt he needed to say something, and it was all that would come out.]

Maybe he recognizes that here you're beginning outgrow the need for his constant support.

Of course.

[He very purposefully spoke the two words as if something would have been wrong with Uchiha if he didn't miss his friend, not the other way around.]

[With a huff, the young shinigami captain finally strode across the room, but he bypassed Uchiha and the tea completely, motioning for the shinobi to follow him out back. Hitsugaya knew himself well enough to know what Uchiha would normally do in this situation, and although what he had planned wouldn't be nearly as satisfying for the frustrated Uchiha as hitting something really hard and fast, he hoped it could make him focus on something else for a while.]

Forget it. Follow me. I'll teach you a two-man kata.
