[She shows up with her whole team, watching and checking for traps, a little nervous about someone going into her mind.]

[Emerging from the shadows, a strong repelling spell on his person should someone decide to be an idiot, Snape nodded at Tenten before his eyes drifted over the rest of her team. He made no comment on the amount of people she brought with her, though perhaps a comment wasn't needed as one eyebrow rose sardonically, a barely-there, scornful smirk playing around his lips before he addressed her, raising his wand.]

Are you ready?

[No wonder he got along with the Uchiha. He was a jerk. But she had to be the bigger person. They couldn't take on Madara right now. A wand, though. She would have to ask Sirius about him later.]

Ready. What do I do?

[Snape could care less what she thought. Besides, it wasn't like she or another member of her group wouldn't be doing the same thing if the roles were reversed. And if she asked Black about him... Well, he supposed it was a toss-up on whether or not the mutt would tell her about being landed in the clinic by him.]

Think of that day, from the very beginning. Concentrate on it and look me in the eye.

[No need to tell her that if she didn't focus well enough, he'd see other images as well.]

[They'd be going just by evidence instead of this, if the roles were reversed. Going into someone's mind to read it wasn't second nature. Tenten nodded and looked him in the eye even as she pushed back the thoughts of a genjutsu trap. He'd said focus, and she was a ninja. She did focus well.]

[The day had been simple, her gathering supplies before seeing that Sasuke was alone and lost. She'd escorted him quickly to the house and left before getting what she'd found home, putting it away, and training Kusari before dinner. That was also why she hadn't had an alibi or more proof.]

[He walked through her memory, watching the scenes change before him carefully, long fingers gently prodding at her mind to make sure that they weren't faked memories before withdrawing and nodding his satisfaction.]

Do you have any idea who might have taken your form and why?

[He had nice hands. She did have to give him that; it was one of the things she tended to notice as a weapons master. Tenten took the nod to mean he was satisfied and considered the question.]

If any of the Akatsuki are still lurking here, they're a possibility. Envy's another.

Envy? And I was under the impression that Madara was a member of this Akatsuki group...?

Envy's a shapeshifter. He's not very predictable.

[Tenten shrugs.]

Madara is. That doesn't mean this wouldn't serve his purpose just as well, or that there isn't dissension. The Akatsuki have split before.

[He considered it silently before dismissing it with a shrug.]

If it is someone of the Akatsuki, that is Madara's problem.

[Envy though... He remembered seeing him on the network occasionally.]

Is there anyone who would have more information on this Envy?

Yes and no. They wanted conflict between Konoha and the Uchiha. So it's ours too. But if Madara wants to settle an issue with someone of the Akatsuki and keep it off to the side, that's fine by me.

[She tilts her head as she thinks.]

The Amestrians. Mustang, Hawkeye, Hughes, Elrics.

Either way, it's not mine.

[The Amestrians. He's had no contact with them. Well, he'll let Madara find out more about this Envy then.]

I see... Does this Envy use a gun, do you know?

[Not his. Okay. What exactly was he getting from this, anyway?]

I don't know. I haven't seen him attack people, only taunt.

[A headache.]

Very well.

[He turns as if to leave before glancing back at Tenten.]

It might be of some relief for you to know that I was able to calm Madara down enough to make him see that you were not the one who actually attacked. Sasuke was informed as well. There will be no attack from the Uchiha over this.

[She studies him for a moment, keeping herself completely calm.]

So you're saying I didn't have to do this, that it was already covered and I didn't need to put my teammates at risk?

But that's good news, at least. Thank you for that.

[A slight smirk before his eyes drift over said teammates, mockingly amused.]

What risk?

[Okay. That settled it. Tenten didn't like him, and he wasn't out to make friends. But she'd promised to not be so loudmouthed.]

Right. That's done, then.

[After a glance at the others in case they wanted to say or do anything, Tenten was ready to go.]

[Friends and Snape didn't really go in the same sentence. The only one here that he would even possibly consider a friend was Izuna whereas at home... Well, he caused the death of one and killed another.]

Indeed.

[And with that, he drew back into the shadows, casting a silencing charm on himself before he disapparated back to his house.]
