[The request is sudden and unexpected, but he has time enough to oversee a few exercises. Landscape sweeps by, and he finds himself in the Wastelands as trees grow thin, grass withers under cracked earth and dust, and stops a short distance from the young Uchiha. His eyes flicker over the younger a brief moment- assessing]
I suppose I should ask your reason for this request.
[Ordinary clones, huh...? He had to think for a minute, recalling the difference in seals, since he had taken up using shadow clones since the Chuunin Exams, it seems like.
Then, gathering the necessary amount of chakra, he started making the clones. Three, wait, two, wait, and then...five.
While he tried to be as consider as possible, he always ended up using more energy than necessary.]
[He watched, his Byakugan gauging Sasuke's chakra expenditure as well as control over the clones as they were made. His chakra control was better than Naruto's, but worse than Sakura's- which was understandable, given her training as a medic. Naruto wouldn't have found control in a dictionary anywhere.
All in all, compared to the average Genin, it was decent. Sasuke would likely be considerably more accomplished with a skill level just above that of an average Chuunin, however. Nodding to himself, he waved a hand. Now to test his focus and concentration]
Direct your clones to perform individual tasks of their own. If you're successful in completing that and maintain control of their individual actions for a number of minutes, coordinate a theoretical attack against me.
[Sasuke blinked once. Trust Neji to be one of the ones to toss a test at him like this. Had Kakashi been the one standing before him, he knew his sensei would have done the same thing.
He gave his clones a single glance, and it was if they already knew. The tasks varied, ranging from simple stretching to flat out sparring with one another. It looked as if that Sasuke was struggling just slightly, but the more the clones went on, the easier it became for him to handle.
Then, his focus shifted onto the Hyuuga in front of him. He couldn't help but smirk a little before both he and the ten clones made their move.]
[So Sasuke was adept in concentration, it was fitting of his reputation as an Uchiha. He hummed mildly, tapping a finger, waiting. His expression reflected a neutral interest, quirking a brow as he noted the slight curve of Sasuke's mouth.
The clones moved, and Neji watched. They couldn't hurt him as ordinary clones with no mass. This was the most basic illusionary technique taught to Academy Students used primarily as distractions. But for the sake of the exercise, he substituted illusion for reality, pretending their fists could break bone, that flimsy almost non-dimensional weapons could slide through his skin, and watched the clones and Sasuke, their reaction time to his movements, Sasuke's focus as he had to coordinate ten clones through ten different motions in order to keep up- actions made up on the go as adaptation was forced and necessary.
Not to mention the inclusion of Sasuke's own attacks and control over his limbs. Eyes flickered between clones, intercepting, dodging, watching for too-similar actions for all the rough spots and hairline cracks in the young nin's focus.]
Sasuke kept going, and kept pushing. Multitasking on this level was definitely a challenge, and it was something he hadn't done before. At most, he had worked with at least two or three clones. That, he could handle with ease. But ten ordinary clones? Even if they were less cost-effective, chakra-wise, than shadow clones, it didn't mean that it was easy.
Sasuke shifted, moving toward the back himself while his clones continued their illusionary assault. He knew that Neji would both be able to see through this with ease and counter it, since it was one of Lee's borrowed-and-adapted moves, but he had to try it anyway.
With a blink of an eye, Sasuke was on the ground beneath Neji and aiming a kick right for his jaw.]
[It was a little unfair, he knew, seeing the strain in Sasuke's expression, limbs, and flares of chakra around him, growing a little more unsteady as time passed. The only downside to the exercise for him however, was the inability to parry or counter attacks, as there was nothing to collide with or hit, so he had to remain on pure reflex, dodging, and perception through the 'assault'.
A pale hand snapped out to intercept Sasuke's ankle- Byakugan fully capable of perceiving the original through the illusions- smiling a little as he released him and flipped back, dispelling the clones with a simple hand seal. Sasuke was the type to push too hard, too fast- a similarity he shared with Lee.]
You used that in the Chuunin Exams. [A casual comment] Lee was entirely frustrated that you improved his technique in so little time versus how long it took him to master it, I recall.
At any rate, I have a good grasp on your capabilities regarding your ability to manipulate and use chakra with those exercises, as well as your mental capacity in regards to concentration and focus- key points when it comes to precision control.
[Sasuke landed on his feet with ease, taking only one step back as he did so. He didn't care to comment on Lee's jealousy as he straightened himself, running a hand quickly through his hair.]
And? How long do you think it'd take to get better? [He didn't mean for it to sound like he was a rush or anything, but, well... That's how it came across anyway. Sigh and bother. Social awkwardness, he can has.]
[A sigh, the single-minded determination also reminiscent, but he considered it.]
Not terribly long until you begin to feel improvements, likely, but I believe the reaching the level of a Chuunin's capabilities would be the most reasonable in the end. As for how long that takes, perhaps a number of weeks if you prove highly capable.
I don't often train with Lee and Gai-sensei in the mornings. They're rather counter-productive to my own training routines. I'll occasionally practice with Tenten near the river, but I'm certain I can balance my own schedule to accommodate.

So long as you'll be patient, I won't mind.

Do you mind meeting me at [x,y] to do it? I'm fine the mornings if it's something that really needs to be worked on.

I'll arrive shortly.

I figured I needed, especially since my jutsus take up a lot of chakra. I won't last long in a fight if I can't control it better.
[Why you gotta be so suspicious, Neji? <\3]

It's true enough. Your primary fighting style includes heavy usage of the Sharingan in combination with ninjutsu.
[Veins creep toward his irises, Sasuke's chakra filtering into view]
In that case, Sasuke, create a total of ten ordinary clones. Three first, two more, then an additional five. Allow ten second intervals.

[Lookit how considerate he is, Neji. <3]

Unless it would inconvenience you, then, an ideal time for me is around eight or nine, but I'll manage just as well earlier.

Tomorrow morning by the river just north of my residence, then.

I'll be there.
